People want to play football as it is favourite sport of Thai people. Bangkok football teams are spending a lot of money to bring talented footballers for the teams in Bangkok.

This has lead to the city having many clubs working to produce the best teams possible to play in the Thailand league and to even progressing to playing for the Thailand National Football Team.

The teams that are based in Bangkok are:


Port Football Club

Port Football Club is centrally located in Bangkok which was previously known as Singhtarua Football Club.

It is one of the top teams in the country and has a vast following throughout Thailand.

Port play at the Pat Stadium which is slightly away from the metro station.

It has a large fan base that display banners and flags to support their team. The club mainly consists of Thai players, but they also have players from Spain, Ivory Coast, Czech Republic and South Korea.

The team has won the Kor Royal cup 8 times, the Thai league cup and Thai FA cup.


Muangthong United

Muangthong Football Club is one of the richest and most famous clubs in Bangkok.

The players train and play football in the Thing Thani district of Bangkok. The team also has a large fan base.

The club formed in 1989 by politician Worawi Makudi. Currently, the team has players from Brazil and Philippines but most of the team are Thai.


Army United

Army United was the first team to be founded in Bangkok.

They were founded in 1916 and they dissolved as a club in 2019. Army United played at the Thai Army Sports Stadium in central Bangkok.

The stadium is near to Don Mueang International Airport. Army United won the 2nd Division of Thai Football in 2005.

Bangkok FC are a football team that play in the 3rd tier of Thai football. T

hey were founded in 1999 under the name Bangkok Bravo FC but they were rebranded in 2010 when Natthaphol Teepsuwan became chairman and owner.

Bangkok FC play at the Bangkok University Stadium.


BG Pathum United

Bangkok Glass Pathum United Football Club (BG Pathum United FC) play in the top tier of Thai football.

They are currently 1st in the Thai Division 1. They have won the F.A Cup once and been champions of the Thai Division 1 League once.

They play at Leo Stadium that holds 10,000 people. They have players from Brazil, Singapore and Japan but most of the team are Thai.
